National Novel Writing Month

The 1350 Lake Shore Drive is celebrating National Novel Writing Month! Every November, aspiring writers and novelists undertake a challenge to write 50,000 words in one month. Writers strive to hit 1,667 words per day in order to meet their goal. Writers sign up on the NaNoWriMo website in order to keep track of their progress and encourage each other. Several best-selling books have come out of NaNoWriMo including Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, and The Darwin Elevator by Jason M. Hough. Our guess is that the draft you write during Nanowrimo won’t be your final draft — most of the time you’ll just be trying to get the words out — but writing everyday will give you the material you need to get to your novel.
